There is a growing concern for the health of the seas and the effects pollution and climate change have on the waters we sail upon. The STEM class at Ursuline Academy in New Orleans -- which includes members of the sailing team -- took on both a sustainability and humanitarian project. They have been working to aid sustenance fishermen in Haiti with sails. The year-long project they dove into involved testing sail materials to best fit the fishermen's needs and provide them with a longer lasting and more environmentally friendly sail. The conversation with ocean conservationist and researcher, Rachael Z. Miller illuminates how these young women are a model for doing small things to solve big problems.
